Son of a Beach

I had a show in Goa in 2015 that was based on beach shots that I'd taken in Connecticut, New York State, East Sussex and Goa. Unlike previous shows I actually sold some pieces and managed to break even. Pretty much a miracle.

I'd first gone to Goa in 2014 to see my old buddy Simon, who'd opened a small hotel there. 'Come in April old chap' he said 'weather's interesting and you'll get some great shots in the monsoon - not a lot of people around so you can also get some terrific shots of the hotel'. On reflection I should have taken that as a warning. Interesting weather turned out to be extreme heat and humidity during the build up to monsoon season, hence not a lot of people wanting to be there.

I'd promised my daughter I'd spend the Fourth of July with her that year, so there was a definite deadline, and unfortunately the monsoon failed to meet it. Luckily I'd managed to get some interesting shots of fairly deserted beaches, life guards generally outnumbering tourists and beach dogs outnumbering life guards. These made up  the Indian segment of the Son of a Beach show I held the following year, and some of them are below. As usual there are still some of these left as either open or limited editions at Saatchi Art.
