Something strange in the state of Denmark.

There's something strange going on in the world of contemporary fine art photography at the moment. There are lots and lots of great images around, but they all look as if they're taken by the same photographer. There's a kind of homoginisation going on, as if the guardians of the art have decided there's only one way forward. There are of course photographers beavering away on the fringes, producing good stuff that doesn't fall into a desaturated, almost shadowless world, but a glance at the images here https://palmstudios.co.uk/palm-photo-prize/shortlist/ are pretty indicative of just about every photographers work these days.

Personally I've never paid much attention to trends, which is probably why I no longer seem to win any awards - and writing about my thought process and the deeper meaning behind my images has never been part of my modus operandi, but these days is essential if you want recognition.

Ah well.....it'll all change when someone comes out with a different way of lighting or post processing an image, and for a few years there will be a mixture of styles before it all settles down to uniformity once again.

In the spirit of being perpetually outside the mainstream, here are some images from a couple of my personal projects that you won't see at the award shows.

As always, please respect my copyright and have a fabulous week.
